From March 28 to March 31 2022, the staff of the Community Legal Education Center (CLEC) joined forces with other partner organizations to orchestrate a crucial meeting. The venue was set across the serene landscapes of Chhouk village, Chikhor village, Trapeang Kandol village, and Chikor Leu Commune, nestled in the Sre Ambel District of Koh Kong Province.
The purpose of this gathering was to coordinate the dissemination and resolution of the final compensation tied to the community land dispute settlement process. The stakes were high, as the lives of 176 families and 70 children were intertwined with the outcome of this event. These were the people affected by development projects in the three villages mentioned above.
As the meeting unfolded, documents were disseminated and validated, each one echoing the stories of the affected families. The air was filled with anticipation, as the results of the agreement meeting were announced. The settlement was to be finalized in the coming days, promising a smooth process and a beacon of hope for the affected people.
This marked a significant chapter in their journey towards resolution, a testament to the power of collaboration and the relentless pursuit of justice.
